  • The process of impeaching him was first initiated by county assembly and their decision was upheld by the senate assembly in December 18th, 2020
  • He now wants to resuscitate his political career after Wiper party and IEBC gave him a green light to capture the Mombasa gubernatorial seat

Wiper party has given Mike Sonko Mbuvi Gidion Kioko direct nomination certificate to run for Mombasa gubernatorial race come August 9th, 2022

According to Wiper, Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo dropped his bid to run for the hotly contested seat on the same ticket and instead agreed to deputise Mike Sonko in the campaigns and the management of Mombasa’s top job

In a document seen by safinews.co.ke on Tuesday 26th April, sonko will fly on a wiper party ticket to succeed from ODM’s governor Ali Hassan Joho

However, the former Nairobi county governor has faced numerous challenges where his opponents the Mvita MP Abulswamad Sharrif and incumbent governor Joho”s team have moved to court in an attempt to stop his ambitions of leading Mombasa electorates as their governor

In a voluminous court files seen by this authoritative media platform, the case has been filed as urgency and needs to be heard soon where Wiper Party is listed as second respondent

The Independent, Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) together with the 1st and 2nd respondents are accused to have violated the law by giving a green light or certificate documents to a person who was removed from office by a way of impeachment process

The petitioners through  their lawyers argues that the first respondent (Mike Sonko Mbuvi Gidion Kioko) is unfit, disqualified from holding any state office and should not be elected into any state office or given a chance to hold a state office
