Embu Senator Alexander Munyi Mundigi has fired a sharp warning at Mukurweini MP John Kaguchia, accusing him of meddling in Embu County affairs and launching unwarranted attacks on Governor Cecily Mbarire.

Speaking to the press, Senator Mundigi lashed out at Kaguchia over claims that Mbarire hired goons to heckle him at a recent public event in Embu. “I want to tell Kaguchia to stay away from Embu affairs. He has been openly disrespectful to our Governor, and we will not tolerate outsiders coming here to create unnecessary tension,” declared an irate Mundigi.

He further added, “If Kaguchia wants to address anyone, let him talk to his own Governor in Nyeri, Mutahi Kahiga. Embu is an independent county — we will not entertain political intruders.”

The dramatic fallout comes after Kaguchia alleged in multiple media interviews that he was harassed during a retirement service of Bishop Njeru Nyaga Ezekiel of NICA at D.E.B Kavutiri Grounds this past Sunday in Embu, accusing Governor Mbarire of orchestrating the chaos. However, Mundigi strongly refuted those claims, insisting Mbarire actually tried to calm the hostile crowd that turned on Kaguchia.

According to the senator, Kaguchia had been invited to the event by Manyatta MP John Mukunji, who gave him the podium before addressing the public himself. But things took a turn when Kaguchia allegedly began attacking the Kenya Kwanza administration during his speech, sparking anger among attendees.

“We cannot allow leaders from outside to come here and insult national figures, especially in front of our people. Governor Mbarire had nothing to do with that chaos,” Mundigi asserted.

Turning to local governance matters, Mundigi also weighed in on the controversy surrounding so-called “ghost workers” in the Embu County Assembly. He clarified that the workers, though designated as “shipcrew,” were legally hired and vetted by the assembly.

“These workers are not ghosts. They were approved and have been doing crucial tasks, including emergency response in our dams and safeguarding fish from theft,” said Mundigi, defending their legitimacy. “They perform other duties as assigned and are fully in office under the law.”

On national matters, the senator extended a warm welcome to President William Ruto and Interior CS Kithure Kindiki, who are set to visit Embu County this coming Sunday. “I welcome President Ruto and CS Kindiki with open arms. Their visit will bring development and great tidings to our people,” Mundigi said.

The senator concluded by calling for political unity in Embu, emphasizing that internal wrangles only derail progress: “Let us unite for the sake of development. Embu’s future depends on our unity and focus.”
