Embu Senator Alexander Munyi Mundigi has come out guns blazing against former Chief Justice David Maraga for what he termed as uncalled-for attacks on Deputy President Kithure Kindiki’s ongoing women and youth empowerment programme.

Speaking during the funeral of Mary Wangui Ngari, a Principal Nurse at Kengen’s Eastern Hydros, Mundigi fiercely defended the initiative, insisting it is transforming lives across the country.
“I want to tell the former Chief Justice to stop attacking the empowerment programme. I’ve seen firsthand how women and youth are benefiting. Let Kindiki do his job without unnecessary interference,” Mundigi said.
The Senator accused Maraga of alleging that the funds being distributed by Kindiki are proceeds of theft, claims Mundigi dismissed as reckless and unfounded.
“The Kenya Kwanza manifesto was clear: housing, health, jobs for youth, and empowerment of women and youth were top priorities. What Kindiki is doing aligns perfectly with that vision,” he added.
Mundigi didn’t stop there. He took a swipe at Maraga, saying the former CJ should focus on enjoying his retirement instead of throwing political jabs.
“Maraga is retired. He should sit back and relax, not attack a programme that is helping thousands of Kenyans.”
Reaffirming his support for the empowerment drive, the Senator urged beneficiaries to invest wisely.
“Take the money to banks, Saccos, or use it to buy land or start a business. Don’t just split it into small chunks. That way, you’ll grow yourselves and the economy,” he advised.
Mundigi also emphasized the importance of the Ruto-Kindiki partnership, saying they have the right to traverse all 47 counties to deliver development.
In a separate jab, the Senator also took aim at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his recent comments advising Kenyans abroad not to invest back home.
“That’s misleading and hypocritical. Gachagua himself has invested in Kenya. Why discourage others? I urge Kenyans abroad to invest in their motherland—they’ll return one day and benefit from their efforts,” Mundigi said.
He concluded by calling on the government to intensify efforts to secure jobs for Kenyan youth abroad to further boost the nation’s economy.
