Threatens to withdraw from membership if embattled Secretary General Seth Panyako won’t quit from union
Kenyan Nurses have now threatened to conduct a ten year’s forensic audit for the Kenya National Union of Nurses with a view to find out the embezzled funds under the stewardship of embattled Secretary General Seth Panyako
In a conversation with disgruntled nurses outside parliament buildings on Thursday evening, they expressed their anger towards top leadership in the union which has seen the government remain noncommittal on considerations of better working environment and some allowances.
According to their regional leaders, they want to ascertain how much has been squandered by the besieged secretary general before they call upon the Directorate of Criminal Investigation as well as Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission to move with speed in apprehending and prosecuting him over corruption related issues
They want him to be taken to shimo la tewa maximum prison as their much publicised national clarion call hashtagged Tewa in all their social media platforms for the last two months
However, former National Nurses Association of Kenya Chair Alfred Obengo, while presenting their petition to call for legislators support on edging their common enemy, poured cold water on those encouraging the latter to join striking doctors
He, instead, emphasised the need for Mr Panyako to just quit before waiting disaster to bappen referencing their systematic and choreographed national withdrawal from the union to embarrass Mr Panyako who bas been adamant on leaving where he harvests
“There is this simplistic and senseless narrative that some people want panyako to join the doctor’s strike.
That’s hollow, hogwash and balderdash.
We don’t want him to do that,”. Mr Obengo charged
According to him, Mr Panyako should take a rational, predictable and firm stand on the nurse interns matters but not parading between the doctors who have got different demands
“In any case he’s neither a doctor or a nurse. He’s a quack masquerading as a nurse leader. We need him to cease from misrepresenting the nurses of Kenya. He must quit or nurses continue quiting,” Mr Obengo reiterated
This comes barely one day after another group believed to have been paid showcased billboards and placards supporting his leadership during International Labour Day Celebrations at Uhuru Gardens
“Nurses and Members of the Union visited the General Secretary Seth Panyako at Uchumi House and assured him that they will fully support his leadership in the Union despite the noise in the social media by some individuals who are not even members of the Union,” They posted
