President Wiiliam Ruto has assured students for higher education that by Friday, 14th March, their funds will be disbursed to their accounts.
While speaking at Dagoretti South, Ruto acknowledged that there are issues at Higher Educations Loans Board, as he noted that they will be addressed
“Hapo kwa HELB Kumekuwa na kizungumkuti kidogo, jana nimekuwa na Waziri ambaye anahusika”, he said while vowing action to some individuals.
Ruto said he had alleady tasked the Head of Public Service Felix Koskey with the mandate of ensuring that the challenges are expeditiously addressed.

He jokingly told students to reach him by phone call if the funds will not have been received to their respective accounts by then.
“By Friday, if the money is not in your accounts, give me a call.There are some people am going to take action against,’’ President said.
‘’Mnatafuta numba, Are you looking for my number?, he posed in laughter.
Earlier this month, HELB announced that first and second year university students will receive funds under the old model while awaiting the outcome of the appeal challenging the high court’s suspension of the new framework
There have been protests among the students over delayed disbursement of the funds.
“We are protesting the delayed bursaries we cannot afford anything. We are protesting all the way to Anniversary Towers,’’ Rocha Madzao, UoN students leaders said.
The officials explained that the delay has been occasioned by a High Court ruling on December 20th, which declared the new university funding model illegal and unconstitutional
