Deputy President William Ruto’s supporters have suffered a major blow after the Federation of Sports Kenya have denied them an access to use the Nyayo National Stadium on 6th August, 2022.
In a reference letter seen by safinews.co.ke on Wednesday 20th July, from the Ministry of Sports and Culture replying the UDA Secretary General Veronica Maina is that the facility will be used for peace concerts that of Kasarani
“We regret to inform you that due to peace concerts that will take place at both Moi International Sports Centre-Kasarani and Nyayo National Stadium between 5th to 7th July, 2022, the facility will not be available for your use.
Kindly be informed. We highly regret the inconveniences caused,” Director General from Sports Kenya Mr Pius Metto wrote.
The letter had also been copied to the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage, Ambassador Amina Mohamed, the Principal Secretary, State Department for the Sports Development and the Chairman of the Sports Kenya Board Mr Charles Waithaka
According to the letter from the United Democratic Alliance party dated on 12th July, 2022 from their Secretary General Ms Veronica Maina, the Board of Sports Kenya had already received the booking fees amounting to Ksh 1,508,000.00 from UDA to allow them hold political rally on the said date mentioned above
