Ruto warns Raila that he will not use backdoor to force handshake

He warns that will take on those will attempt to hold demonstrations on next week

Raila on the other hand, announces three days consecutive of demonstrations due to public demand

President William Ruto has warned Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition’s Leaders that government will be waiting for them on Wednesday 19th July to teach them a lesson 

Speaking on Friday 14th July, while launching Njabini-Naivasha Road in Nakuru County, the Head of State, asserted that there will be no protests taking place next week; tellingĀ  Azimio leader Raila Odinga that he is ‘ready for him.’

“Raila Odinga, I won’t allow you to seek power on the back of the blood of Kenyans. I will stop you,” he said.

Ruto, was reacting to an announcement by Azimio that their protests will now happen for three days non-stop, beginning next week as from Wednesday through Friday.

The head of state also called out Raila for employing unconstitutional means to get into the government, insisting that it will not happen.

Ruto has previously reiterated his stand that there will never be a handshake with Raila.

“You can’t use extra-constitutional means to get power. You want to use violence to get into government; it won’t happen,” he added.

“No demonstration is going to take place on Wednesday. It is not possible, this man (Raila Odinga)has brought chaos to this country which has led to many deaths. He kept on interfering with Mwai Kibaki’s administration, Uhuru Kenyatta’s and now the other day he led protests and properties were destroyed,” Ruto said.

“That path that you are taking, I want to assure you that I am going to take you on and I will not allow it to happen.” 

By Friday 14th July, the death toll resulting on Wednesday’s Azimio protests raised to 17 across the country. However, the number is believed to be more.

On their part, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition’s Leaders led by Raila Odinga have rescheduled their earlier communication stating that protests will run three consecutive days starting on Wednesday 19th July through Friday 21st July

Raila announced that the changes were arrived due to public demand, stating that Kenyans from all walks of life have requested the opposition to hold demonstrations consecutively to push government lower cost of living
