President William Ruto’s office is selling used vehicles and other items
The office of the president announced the sale of used vehicles, tyres and batteries, among other items, through a public auction.
State House Comptroller, in collaboration with Astorion Auctioneers, invited bidders ahead of the auction on Friday, June 16.
Among the vehicles to be auctioned include a Toyota van at a cost of KSh 110,000 and a Range Rover at KSh 1.25 million.
Gerishon Mjomba from the Comptroller of State House Office confirmed bidders are required to pay KSh 50,000, refundable to those who lose the bid
The office of the State House Comptroller published an auction notice to the public, seeking prospective bidders for unserviceable motor vehicles, tyres and assorted scrap metals.
The auction conducted by Astorion Auctioneers set conditions for bidders, including a refundable deposit of KSh 50,000.
Gerishon Mjomba, an officer from the State House Comptroller Office, said the deposit is only refundable to losing bids.
“The KSh 50k deposit is only refundable to bidders who will not win. Winners will not be refunded and are required to pay the item price,”
Mjomba revealed that the cars and other items are in condition for repair, and any individual who acquires them can service them and ready them for use.
“When we say unserviceable, we mean the vehicles are in a condition that can be repaired… but it is expensive for us at the government. Anyone who buys them can repair them,” he said.
