The government has written off all debts owed by Nzoia sugar amounting to 50 billion Shillings.

Speaking at the firm during his visit,President William Ruto said this was in a bid to salavage the factory and bring it back to productivity.

The president further declared that his administration to overhaul the company’s management which he blamed for being behind the woes of the mill.

Addressing residents and cane farmers at Nzoia Sugar factory in Bukembe East, Kanduyi, the Head of State, noted that, new tactics must be employed in revival of the largest Western Kenya ailing sugar mill.

“We must get it right this time round. We can’t be injecting billions that end up in the drain.Nzoia needs new management. That we shall do”,He Said.

Dr Ruto reiterated his relentless pursuit to improve the lives of cane farmers, promising new machines to enhance operations.

“As we write off the burdening debts, we are going to bring in new machines.Let us also build and maintain our nucleus, the largest in the region to increase productivity”, He affirmed.

The President’s sentiments were echoed by Governor Kenneth Lusaka and a host of leaders.

“Nzoia will roar back on its feet. With the President’s push and support, our people will shine in cane farming” _Said Lusaka.

The County Boss noted that Dr Ruto’s development tour of Bungoma, has been a great success.

“I want to thank President Ruto for his timely visit and bag of goodies for our people.This is just the beginning of our legacy. Expect maximum service delivery”, He assured.

This marks President Ruto’s two day development tour of Bungoma County, as he further, offers Bungoma, Milk coolers, expansion of Malaba and Lwakhakha border roads, 700 bags of subsidized fertile in the next National Government dispatch and many more.
