Monday, 17 July 2023– The Cabinet Secretary for Education, Ezekiel Machogu and Nairobi County Governor Sakaja Johnson have today signed an Intergovernmental Partnership Agreement (IPA) on the School Feeding Programmes for Public Primary Schools in Nairobi.

The signing of the agreement was also witnessed by Cabinet Secretary for Treasury Prof. Njuguna Ndungu.

This IPA is a collaboration between the two levels of governments and does not translate to transfer of any functions and/or power of the National Government to the Nairobi City County Government.

On May, Sakaja pleaded with the President William Ruto while publicly weeping on the suffering Nairobi school going children in Public Schools have gone through in detriment to other priorities

Sakaja noted that Nairobi public primary schools are very few and there is no way National Government and County Government can leave those deserving children learn throughout the day without provision of feeding program since their parents can’t afford boarding or private schools
