Chief Principle Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs Musalia Mudavadi has announced the appointment of two former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) aspirants from Malava Constituency to diplomatic positions.

On Monday, Mudavadi named Simon Kangwana as Education Attache at the Kenyan Mission in Uganda and Rhyan Injendi Malulu as Trade Attache at the Kenyan Embassy in South Africa.

“I am humbled this afternoon to express my deepest gratitude. I sincerely thank His Excellency Dr William Samoei Ruto and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi for appointing me,” Kangwana said after the announcement

Malulu, on his part, pledged to reinforce the bilateral and trade ties between the two nations.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank the president of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency William Samoei Ruto, Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetangula and CS Oparanya for the combined effort to ensure your son managed to get this role,” Malulu said.

The two, alongside Leonard Shimaka, who was recently appointed to a three-year term at the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) board, were aspirants in the UDA primaries and had been promised a government position by President William Ruto in exchange for backing UDA candidate David Ndakwa in the by-election.

“I am deeply honoured and grateful for the trust you have placed in me. I am committed to supporting your vision of transforming the KRA into a prosperous nation by ensuring it meets and exceeds its revenue collection targets,” Shimaka said.

KRA formally welcomed Shimaka to its Board of Directors on November 11, 2025, after his appointment by the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning on November 4, 20

“We are glad to welcome Mr Shimaka at a time when KRA is transitioning into a new era that prioritises customer service, innovation, and institutional trust. His leadership and counsel will support our commitment to exemplify the values of ethical conduct, simplicity in service delivery, competency, helpfulness to taxpayers, and institutional trustworthiness,” said KRA Commissioner General, Humphrey Wattanga.

During a rally at Malava Primary School, Mudavadi invited Kangwana and Malulu to the podium, where they read their appointment letters from his phone.

“The president has kept his word on the UDA aspirants and the development projects currently ongoing in Malava. I ask you to be honourable as you have always been and vote for the UDA candidate,” Mudavadi

He said Ndakwa’s election in Thursday’s by-election would give the constituency easier access to government services
