Five people, including two national police reservists, have been killed by bandits in Mutuati, Igembe North in Meru County.
County Commissioner Fred Ndunga said the bandits, suspected to be from Samburu County, raided Njaruine village and stole more than 100 cattle.
According to Meru County Commissioner Fred Ndunga is that, bandits suspected to be from Samburu County attacked Njaruini Village before pelting heinous incidents on innocent people where they walked away with one hundred cattle
“Police are closely monitoring their movements where those criminals are hiding themselves, we shall give you more details later,” Ndunga pointed
A police source said that more than 70 morans attacked the village and killed one person on Monday
Three more people were killed on Tuesday, Morning, he said.
“As we speak, officers from Meru, Isiolo and Samburu are pursuing the bandits,” the Officer said adding that Igembe North Commander Joseph Chesire is leading the operation.
Several injured people were rushed to Mutuati Level Four Hospital for treatment.
The area Member of Parliament Julius Taitum said he had held a meeting with the Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome, who promised action
Residents have now called the government to flush out the criminal elements within their area for their own security purposes enshrined in the the laws of the land
