Embu: Police Hunt Killers After Man’s Body Found Dumped

Security apparatus have launched an investigations after a middle-aged man was found dead and his body dumped by the roadside early in the morning of Friday, 4th July, at Gwakaithi, Embu County

Confirming the incident, Mbeere North Sub-county Police Commander George Kariuki said the man, identified as Nyaga Mukundi alias “Zakayo,” was discovered by officers from the Runyenjes Base who immediately notified his office.

According to Kariuki, the body of the 56-year-old man was found along the Ena-Ishiara Road, near Gwakaithi Catholic Church in Gwakaithi, Ruiri Sub-location, Mbeere North Sub-county, Embu County.

“We received disturbing news this morning of a man identified as Nyaga Mukundi, whose body was found dumped by the roadside near Gwakaithi Catholic Church. With the help of the man’s wife, Loise Mbura, and officers from both Runyenjes Base and Ishiara Police Station, we were able to confirm his identity after she positively identified the body,” Kariuki said.

While the exact cause of death is yet to be determined, Kariuki stated that preliminary investigations suggest the man may have been murdered elsewhere and his body later dumped at the scene.

“Further investigations will provide more details about the cause and motive of the killing,” he added.

Police teams from Ishiara Police Station and the Runyenjes Base Commander have since launched a joint operation to pursue the suspects and unravel the mystery behind the murder.

The body of Nyaga Mukundi was taken to the Embu Level Five Hospital mortuary as investigations continue.
