Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga has formerly been charged in court four days after he was arrested.
Monday, July 24, the government arraigned the former Mungiki leader at Makadara Law Courts and charged him with three counts.

Njenga is accused of planning to commit a felony after he was allegedly found in possession of assorted weapons.
The prosecution alleged that Njenga possessed offensive weapons, including 14 machetes, 24 Maasai swords, 46 rungus, and three jembe sticks.
“On July 20, at Kiserian area within Kajiado county were found with armed offensive weapons including 14 machetes, 2 Maasai swords, 46 rungus and three jembe sticks in circumstances that indicated that they were so armed with intent to commit a felony,” charge sheet reads.
Njenga was further charged with organising illegal demonstrations against the Kenya Kwanza government.
“Organising an unlawful assembly contrary to Section 5(ii) as read with 5(10) of the public order Act CAP 56 Laws of Kenya,” prosecution added.
