President William Ruto’s close allies have debunked the controversy surrounding the rejection of Nominated Cabinet Secretary for Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage Penina Malonza
Speaking to safinews.co.ke, legislators clsoe to the appointing authority have confirmed that malonza will be approved and will be the best performing Minister in Kenya Kwanza Government
Kapsaret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi who is close ally to President William Ruto said that, Malonza’s panic to face parliamentarians in the full glare of cameras should not have been used as an impendment to block her nomination
“Penina Malonza is qualified to serve Tourism docket, only that she was not good in public speaking. Nevertheless, she will be the best performing Cabinet Secretary, let’s give her a chance,” Sudi debunked
In a separate interview, Mwala legislator Engineer Vincent Musyoka confirmed that majority of members have amended the recommendations made by the vetting committee denying her the chance
“We have already amended and we have sent someone who will submit our proposals so I can confirm to you that Malonza will be the next Tourism Minister and she’s there to stay
You don’t have to know how many giraffes in Tsavo East Park for you to be the Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage. I am an Engineer but if am appointed the minister of Justice will just familiarise myself with a bit law and pick it from there,” Kawaya maintained
In a selfless move, Kitui Central MP Makali Mulu has told the vetting committee to stop making unnecessary claims that Malonza failed to show her ability in an administrative, technical and managerial capabilities of leading the docket
Entebess Member of Parliament Dr Robert Pukose who is close ally to President William Ruto amended the recommendations by supporting Malonza’s approval
“I am finding some falts Minister Speaker Sir, when a candidate is tensed should be given time to relax and compose before pumping questions, as a Doctor, I can not assume that everyone knows the surgeon terminologies
So tp deny someone chance who has in been in managerial position, project manager in Amref and Deputy Governor for Kitui for five years that is not fair Mr Speaker Sir, Madam Penina is equal to the task and she’s qualified,” Pukose noted
Interestingly, Mwingi Central Member of Parliament Dr Gideon Mulyungi accused the parliamentary appointment committee of approving CS Nominee for Public Service and Gender Aisha Jumwa who has no University Degree and reject someone with doctorate degree
“Aisha Jumwa has no degree the highest academic qualification is D- in KCSE and is approved, she has a murder case in court while Penina Malonza has a PhD and is a church girl leading in choir, it’s laughable,” Mulyungi commended
However, controversial political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi alkuded that parliament has no powers to overturn President’s appointments unless it was designed for rejection so as to appoint someone else who has political spine and influence than the embattled nominee
