Owino urges President Ruto to stop taxing Kenyans further and withdraws finance bill 2024
He threatened to petition for the compensation of victims whose their houses were demolished
Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino now urges President William Ruto not to tax Kenyans further after securing about Sh 1 trillion from his State Visit to United States of America
In an exclusive interview with safinews.co.ke on Friday, Owino demanded Kenya Kwanza Administration to abolish the Finance Bill 2024, which is going to fleece Kenyans more dry as they struggle to live with the hiked prices of basic commodities including a loaf of bread which will cost Sh 90 per 400gms
In the new act-yet to be enacted by parliament, vehicle owners will be mandated to pay between Sh 5,000 and Sh 100,000 after the introduction of annual tax that will be paid during motor vehicle insurance coverage acquisition.
“The burden is resting on the shoulders of Kenyans, they can’t even make ends meat! This is because the President decided to tax everything, taxing on chickens, taxing on crops, taxing bread and vehicles, tax on anything that is moving, we must put breaks on him,” Owino remarked
The vocal opposition legislature noted that all the money needed for development has now been donated courtesy of President Joe Biden’s administration to cushion already suffering Kenyans from excessive and oppressive taxation
On matters pertaining demolition of houses in Gikomba, Owino said will petition for the government to compensate the traders since their livelihoods will have been affected where they get daily bread
“The President has ordered the demolition of structures, houses and businesses , it’s ironical for this administration to put down houses and markets while they were at the fore front promising to create million jobs every year,” he wondered
Some of pleasantries that Kenya will receive after President William Ruto’s US visit include Ksh 477 billion to build Mombasa-Nairobi 6 lane Dual Carriageway.
