Former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has castigated Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission detectives for politically detaining him for 8 hours with no reason

Speaking to media immediately after he was released from Integrity Centre in Nairobi, Oparanya accused EACC for playing politics instead of fighting grafts suspects as required in the law

“My arrest since morning was political and we shall deal with it politically. They came to my house in the morning, did some search and took away some documents.,” Oparanya disclosed outside EACC building

He further told media that police were questioning him the relationship he has with Azimio leader Raila Odinga, but he declined to answer their rhetorical questions

“When I declined to answer those obvious questions, they started asking me matters related to 2013/2014 financial year which are totally unrealistic on what they wanted from me.

The matters financial management were dealt at Senate level.

It is not prudent and wise to ask a retired governor like me, someone who was a Minister for Treasury and Planning such questions to do with finances, if there was any financial mismanagement would have been arrested long time not today,” He wondered

However, Oparanya disclosed that when he arrived at Integrity house, he demanded detectives to prepare a written document on why they have arrested him before responding on anything
