Josephat Odipo is accused of his alleged sinister plan to use his influence to disinherit the sisters

Five sisters have accused him of taking advantage of his connections to play the girls and take everything for himself

The family of the celebrated Radio Citizen News Presenter Josephat Odipo has allegedly linked him over a well orchestrated plan to disinherit the sisters of their father’s land

The family of eleven, led by five sisters, have been for the last 40 years, fighting over unresolved succession of their late father’s 13 acres property land in Butula Sub-County, Busia County.

In a document seen by safinews.co.ke on Saturday 29th September, the sisters pointed figures to Royal Media Services Journalist over gender discrimination that has caused unnecessary delays of the 13 acres piece of land sitted at Esibembe Village, Mukhweso Sub-Location, Lugulu Location

“We the girls firmly assert our rightful claim to a fair share of our father’s land. Our request is grounded in the principles of justice and equality, which should govern such matters, and in recognition of our father’s legacy which rightfully belongs to his offspring,” Part of the statement sent to newsrooms read.

According to the chronology of the matters, their late father Mr Kalisto Odipo died in 1982 and left behind twelve children whom they were  blessed together with Mama Seraphina Apondi

The late had bought a piece of land which include his estate measuring 13 acres, in Lukhari/Marachi which has since then remained unadministered

“Despite the passage of many years, there has been no progress in settling the succession of our father’s assets.

This matter is further exacerbated by the clear genderbased discrimination exhibited by our brothers, who are reluctant to involve the female members of the family in the discussions surrounding the estate.,” They asserted.

Led by their second born child Mary Goretti Mulaku, are demanding fair application of justice where all sisters should get equal share of their late father’s estate as the law stipulates

Citing an incident in 2003 when the descendants of the individual who sold the land to their father tried to reclaim it, only one of their sister Mary Goretti who engaged lawyers to resuscitate the land

“In that dire situation, our sister, Mary Goretti, demonstrated immense resilience and determination by single-handedly engaging legal representation to navigate the complex legal process.

It is crucial to highlight that our brothers failed to actively participate or contribute to the resolution of this critical issue, despite being equally invested in the outcome,” They remarked

Additionally, they accused their five other brothers who seems to be controlled by the influential brother for being reluctant to participate in the growth and welfare of the family and instead they are hell bent to sideline them as if they were illegitimate children

“In addition to the unresolved succession issue, our brothers have failed to contribute to the education and wellbeing of the nephews and nieces within our family.

This neglect of familial responsibilities is both disheartening and unacceptable, and this was clearly seen in the limited support they gave their late brother Dominic during his long illness and subsequent death.,” They pointed out

Likening the proverbial quote from African ancients that blood is thicker than water, the girls believe that family members should support one another in times of need.

However, in the letter signed by three daughters of the late led by Mary Goretti Mulaku, Antonina Mulamula and Scholastica Nanjira Osayo claimed that Josephat was raised outside the home

“We would like to acknowledge that Josephat Odipo was raised outside the home.

This has undoubtedly shaped his perspective and attachment to the family property differently from those of us who were raised within the home.

Our wish is to come together as a family and resolve these issues and arrive at a decision that is fair to all involved,” Three sisters demanded

Even after trying to call him as from Saturday 29th September and senting several text messages to hear from his side of the story, he has remained unbothered as our efforts went futile by the time we went on air
