Nationah Cohesion and Integration Commission has summoned Dadaab MP Farah Maalum over the controversial remarks he made against the GenZs
In the summon, the MP was instructed to present himself to the NCIC offices on Thursday at 11:00 A.M failure to which he would be arrested.
In the video which has since gone viral, the legislator was heard allegedly stating that if he were the Kenyan President he would have clamped down on demonstrators
Following the comments, the NCIC stated, “The Commission is investigating utterances made by the MP in Somali language, on the Gen Z demonstrations against the Finance Bill 2024.”
“Hon. Farah Maalim is required to appear before the Commission to assist with the aforementioned ongoing investigations. Failure to appear in person at the said place, date, and time, is an offence as provided under Section 63 (c) as read with Section 63 (e) of the NCI Act, read the statement in part.”
The NCIC further noted that the utterances were likely to incite feelings of contempt, hatred, hostility, violence or discrimination.
Consequently this would affect the harmonious coexistence between groups of different political affiliations in Kenya, which is the Commission’s mandate.
Earlier, Otieno Ogola & Company Advocates had issued a formal demand to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for immediate legal action against Farah Maalim.
The letter came at a backdrop of circulation of a video and audio recording in which Mr. Maalim is allegedly heard inciting violence against young Kenyans
