Legislators from Mt Kenya region have threatened to lobby for impeachment of Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja
They have cited mistreatment of Nairobi hawkers and business people as the major reason for his grounds to be removed
MP Mejjadonk and Amos Mwango also pointed out corruption and abuse of power as other possible reasons for his removal
Members of Parliament drawn from Mt Kenya region have now demanded resignation of Nairobi County Governor Johnson Sakaja over alleged mistreatments of hawkers
Led by Starehe Member of Parliament Amos Mwango and his counterpart Embakasi Central Member of Parliament Mejjadonk Benjamin Gathiru, the legislators said Sakaja is going back to the promises he made during campaigns
“Governor Sakaja has continued to mistreat hawkers who make their ends meet by selling small products. Since you got into office, nothing tangible we have seen to improve the livelihoods of Nairobi business people as well as hawkers,” Mwango stated
The legislators stated that the recent incident of Nairobi County askaris dragging disabled woman was disheartening and inhumane in nature that could not be upheld in the confines og natural justice
The Members threatened if Sakaja do not resign, will rally behind elected Members of County Assembly even if it includes mobilizing resources to ensure he’s out of office as Nairobi Governor
Sakaja, who apologised for the incident but again condemned members of public for accusing the county askaris, met with some of hawkers and gave them paltry Sh10,000 each
While responding to donation governor Sakaja gave to hawkers while he met them, the leaders observed that was a mockery of the highest order
