Mt Kenya heavyweights in Nairobi seems to be burying their political hatchets to forge a new alignment that would catapult their oblivion against what they are perceiving as a monovalent threat of a borrowed rural-urban politicians influencing the city

In a fierce political attack targeting incumbent Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and other two previous governors, Embakasi North lawmaker James Gakuya alias Basenka seeking the county’s top job, allayed fears of growing trend in Nairobi of being led by non urbanites who comes from rural areas

Gakuya called upon those who were born in Nairobi and brought up in the capital city to defend the crop of best leaders they have been with them who understands better the resident’s problems instead of being convinced by politicians who are believed to be repatriating their capital’s resources to their rural homes or rather in an offshore accounts.

“I want to urge Nairobi people, you know how we have come along way….we are the ones who knows our problems better, not those who have come to work….

That’s why we have served three terms consecutively because we were brought up here making us in a better position to understand what affects Nairobians than some of our competitors who might be having a different view of our status,” Gakuya asserted pointing figures to newcomers who have taken the city’s politics by storm.

He pointed out that some of parents in Nairobi can’t afford basic needs including taking their children to primary schools and living in vulnerable status, a condition that won’t be understood by newcomers

“The last time we were respected was during the reign of late President Mwai Kibaki, Nairobi was in the right hands and everything seemed to work, today those who should defend the Nairobi resources are treated as worthless, shall we continue accepting such political landscape to sideline us? ,” He questioned

While accompanied by UDA Nominated Senator Tabitha Mutinda Munene who is seeking a county woman representative urged Gikuyu community to rally behind her since she understands better what’s affecting Nairobians.

Mutinda who seems to have been brought up in Nairobi county due to her multilingual dialects, sharp eloquence, a mixture of cross regional behaviour, social intertwines and other biological factors has mastered the art of persuading Nairobians who are ready to vote ik her second stab

“If you want to know whether the person will deliver look around the kind of friends is walking along with. You see me with Basenka ,you can see me with Dagoretti South MP KJ and Nairobi South MCA Waithera who are serving their third term respectively_meaning they have delivered

This means that am walking with the right people and mine is to request you give us the direction we shall take despite our political differences and we shall ensure that we deliver Nairobi from bad and greedy leadership that doesn’t understand what’s affecting our mothers and children-fire si fire, moto si moto” Mutinda roared

She jokingly grabbed crowd’s attention by asking if there’s any woman who can deny a man third time whose first and second times has performed excellently beyond reasonable doubts 

John Kiarie of Dagoretti South, pleaded with the Nairobi dwellers led by their community to rally behind the team that is non tribal because they are planning to meet with all communities so as to save Nairobi from being milked dry by those the term ‘repatriators’

The trio said they have just started with the Gikuyu community but soon they are organizing another public fora with all communities including Kambas, Lughya, Luos and Abagusii

“We have just started the ground running and we are going to meet all communities living in Nairobi to chat the way forward. Nairobi is not for certain regions, we deserve our resources back especially those who were brought up here. Gakuya sought unanimous support from all communities in Nairobi so as to bring back the sanity of Nairobi that he seems has been depolarized, ” He stated. 

Mutinda on her hand, requested support from her ‘in-laws’ and assured them that as a woman, she would work tirelessly to remain relevant and strong in her position so as to change the lives of marginalized women and youths and children_especially those in slum dwellers for social empowerment
