While United Opposition Alliance is decrying foul play over their counterpart United Alliance in their overwhelming win following yesterdays by-elections, nurses are a happy lot as they wished their vocal candidate Seth Panyako lose at Malava Constituency.
Going by what National Nurses Association of Kenya have shared on social media platforms, it’s crystal clear that Panyako’s defeat by UD’s candidate David Ndakwa in Malava parliamentary by-election held on November 27, 2025, left a celebratory mood on their faces rather than melancholy
Ndakwa won with 21,564 votes, followed closely by DAP-K candidate Seth Panyako with 20,210 votes
In their agitation, they have trolled back Panyako’s past leadership style alluding at the helm of nurses that he ruled their union like his personal estate, barring elections in order to remain in full control of power of nurse’s union.
One of his critique, former Chairman of NNAK, Albert Obengo claimed, “Panyako diverted portion of the union’s two billion shilings to build his private home in kitengela, without proper explanation or single credible audit on how such monies were appropriately handled
Panyako is poised to have allegedly colluded with his friend Mary Ochieno to buy a 20 acre land near his home at kitengela at an inflated cost of 150 million shillings where the land actual value was at Sh 50 million shillings
“Kajiado/Kaputiei-North/11912 measuring 8.09 hectares from Mary Adrian Ochieno using nurse’s money at a cost of 150 million shillings where he withdrew 15 million and paid before signing.
The balance of 135 million shillings will be paid within fourteen days of registration of transfer, ” Part of the documents revealed reads before allegedly demanded the refund of Kshs. 13.5M to his personal account, bypassing union accounts.
However, Malava by-elections were marred by chaos, leading to several arrests as tensions flared. Seth Panyako and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya were allegedly arrested, prompting angry residents in Kitale Town to block major roads in protest.
“During Seth’s leadership, recruitment allegedly based on tribe, beauty or loyalty not by merit. Union funds allegedly paid salaries of his bar and hotel staffs listed as union embloyees, ‘ Obengo posted.
He pointed out that if malava people would have elected such charlatan, they would seen his true colors once given power, reminscing them how he can’t be trusted with public office owing to background queries where staff salaries were allegedly withdrawn without the approvals to finance his 2022 campaigns.

“Even worse, in all that time he never created opportunities for nurses, instead choosing to persecute his critics by targeting their jobs and careers. Such a man, who thrives on impunity and betrayal has no business seeking the mandate of the people rather should be kept far from any leadership position, ” He added
Ndakwa defeated five other aspirants to clinch the Malava parliamentary seat, including DAP-K candidate Seth Panyako, Kenya Moja Movement Party’s Wilberforce Tuvei, Party of Democratic Unity (PDU) candidate George Ngaira, Entrust Pioneer Party (EPP) candidate Jason Shivakale, and National Ordinary People Empowerment Union (NOPEU) candidate, Benjamin Nalwa.
The seat was declared vacant after the death of Moses Malulu Injendi in February 2025.
Tension and Chaos Grip Malava By-Election
In Muhonje, tensions ran high and DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa’s Toyota Land Cruiser V8 was reportedly attacked and set on fire.
DAP-K alleged that “goons,” terrorized their candidate and his agents throughout the night. The party further claimed that the attacks occurred under the supervision of police officers.
