The MP was caught on a camera assaulting a Kenya Power and Lighting Company engineer for disconnecting an illegal power at his house
Kitui East Member of PParliament Nimrod Mbai has been arrested for assaulting a Kenya Power engineer who is reported to have disconnected an illegal power at his home in Kajiado
The vocal legislator is said to be arraigned at Kajiado Law Court today Wednesday 5th July, 2023 over the alleged assault on KPLC official
This comes after a video on him demanding answers from the engineer why they have disconnected his power, went viral with some Kenyans reacting negatively
The KPLC officer who was caught in the melee had been identified as Julius OnkangiĀ

According to Onkangi, the MP had illegally connected the power into his house in Kajiado which is under construction
The MP was heard telling the KPLC officials that there is no time for bribes before connecting power to Kenyans
“The time of bribe taking is over, I will not allow that to any other Kenyan before supplying electricity,” Mbai posed furiously
While in the statement of KPLC from General Manager Human Resource and Administration, Ms Cecilia Kalungu, they vowed to protect their employees’ rights
“We assure our employees that the company will take necessary action and support to our staffs including the security support when needed,” Kalungu said.
KPLC said they will ensure justice for their employee is served and will not allow any other attempts to deter them from doing what according to them is right
