Matiang’i back from Europe, appears before DCI, EACC

Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiangi is back in the country, set to present himself to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation tomorrow, Monday, March 6, 2023

The CS is said to have travelled to European country to attend urgent domestic matters, in a private capacity,  and is back in the country after two weeks of abroad visitation

The news about Matiangi’s departure came to the fore when Directorate of Criminal Investigations wrote, demanding details about his departure from the country, amid controversy over his arrest

The Ex-CS is said to have touched down at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Saturday,  March 4, at 10PM aboard KLM Flight 0566

The Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission [EACC] is also, looking after him, complicated the matter when they wrote, demanding Mr Matiangi to declare his wealth spanning back from 2012 before his appointment to the ministerial positions

Matiangi was adversely mentioned in the Ruaraka land saga, where Sh1.5 billion was said to have been wired into his account, from the proceeds of the sold 17.7 acre public land where Ruaraka High School and Drive Inn Primary School sits on

The parcel of land, which belonged to the Ministry of Education, and registered in the Nairobi City Municipal documents was sold in 2017 by a controversial businessman and billionaire, though disputed of the entitlement, Mr Francis Mburu, who shared the proceeds within 20 days

Immigration department showed that tbe former taugh talking CS left the country on February 19th but the details about travel remained scanty 

Matiangi’s woes with the authorities started beating the roofs when the information reached media outlets about the police raiding his Karen home but the authenticity remained still unsubstantiated 

The land dating back in 2018 on question was sold by Mr Mburu and his company, Afrison Export Ltd, at a cost of Sh3.2 billion, after the National Land Commission approved the Ministry of Education to release the payouts
