The County Government of Kitui has secured a comprehensive National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) cover for the employees effective from yesterday, Wednesday 28th June, 2023.
The enhanced cover seeks to enable the county workers access health services without out of pocket payments and improve their welfare as they serve the people of Kitui.
The cover is a fulfilment of Governor Dr. Julius Malombe ‘s pledge to guarantee a reliable comprehensive cover for the staff as they spearhead his development agenda across the county.
The comprehensive plan covers members for various medical services, including inpatient and outpatient care among others.
This was revealed today during a consultative meeting between Governor Malombe, senior county officers and the caucus of trade unions representing sections of staff in Kitui.
The cover is a big relief to the employees who have in the past faced challenges accessing healthcare under fraud exorbitant insurance brokers forcing them to pay out of their pockets to cater for medical costs.
Today’s meeting further discussed the progress made so far in addressing county employees’ affairs in strive to achieve increased productivity.
The committee implementing the staff audit report informed members that they will conclude their mandate in July noting they had already made progress in addressing some of the challenges raised and arising from the report.
