- Mutua had threatened to estrange Azimio and move to the other coalition should his demands weren’t addressed over the weekend
- He has accused Azimio co-founders of mistrust and misusing other political affiliates for their merits
- He says they can stay with marriage certificate (agreement documents) but he has already divorced from it
Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua’s party Maendeleo Chap Chap has formally left Azimio la Umoja One Kenyan coalition and joined Kenya Kwanza team led by Deputy President William Ruto
Addressing journalists on Monday 9th May at his party headquarters, Mutua unequivocally said that no one can force a woman to remain in a dishonest and unworthy marriage

“Even if the court, Azimio and registrar of political parties will not allow us to leave, let them remain with the documents (marriage certificate) we have already moved on.
I will work with Deputy President William Ruto and will walk with him sako kwa bako(beside) in every part of the country in search of votes and doing development after winning in August polls,” Mutua noted
Mutua, on Friday 6th May, demanded Azimio to make the documents open to affiliated parties lest he announces his next political move has now made his threats come true
He categorically said that since signing of the ‘secret’ documents, many of his allies have been short-changed and they have been hearing and watching Azimio meetings on televisions, radios and newspapers
Dr. Alfred Mutua:,“We have heard bad things about DP Ruto but sasa mko sawa ntakua namueka ‘mundu kwa mundu,’’. (now will put DP in my hands)
All your fears have been taken care of because with Alfred Mutua mbele iko sawa, hakuna kitu mbaya atafanya,”.(future is bright, nothing bad Ruto will do with me).
