Operation Linda Jamii has reprimanded Western leaders led by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi over incompetence
They have endorsed Dr Mukhisa Kituyi and Eugene Wamalwa to speak for the people of western
Operation Linda Jamii has now enjoined opposition leaders in castigating President William Ruto’s threats over the Asian businessmen in Western, following recent abduction to Jaswant Singh Rai, owner of Kabras Sugar Company
This comes, at time, when President Ruto, on his 5 day tour in Western, issued frightening threats directed to the private sugar millers, moments later, Mr Rai was abducted in Nairobi from his car and two days later, released from the hands of abductors in an apologetic manner
The lobby group now vows to move to court seeking orders that requires the President to be ruled out of order for ordering litigants in the sugar saga to withdraw the cases they have filled in court over the control of Mumias sugar company
They are billionaire Jaswant Rai, the owner of West Kenya Sugar Company and his tycoon brother Sarbjit Singh Rai, owner of Uganda based Sarrai Group which took over the management of Mumias Sugar Company about one year ago
But, according to Head of State, is that, the two brothers should withdraw the case, cease, pack and move out of Western Region
“We have told those people (Jaswant and Sarbit, two brothers) to move out. Mumias belongs to the people and we shall plan for the revival of the sugar mill afresh.
I have told them there are only three options left; they either move out, go to jail or embark on the journey to heaven,” a statement that has caused jitters to the lobby group, rival political divide and investors
In a statement to newsrooms, the lobby group’s Chairperson Dr Fredrick Ogola, stated that Ruto’s sentiments are ill advised and hell-bent to kill Rai’s sugar empire in Kenya and Uganda in order for him to take over
“Operation Linda Jamii is privy to the information that Jaswant Rai is the owner of Kabras, Busia, Naitiri, Kibos and others in Uganda. President Ruto wants to kill Rai’s sugar empire in Western so as to shift sugar millers to his native home, Rift Valley,” They asserted
The group alleged that President has caused a rift among the Rai brothers to divide and rule for his benefit, adding his intentions are ill fated, to see impoverished luhya nation, becoming mere farmers to supply his sugar milling in West Rift Valley
“Our reliable source is that Ruto wants two things to happen. First, make business for himself. Second, to develop one region at an expense of the other.
Speaking on the sidelines of the statement, Prof Fred Ogola termed Ruto’s sentiments as dangerous to have come from the Head of State, who represents unity adding that doesn’t paint the right picture of Kenya in the international community as an investment destination
Future of Mulembe Nation Politics
In an apologetic spherical, the Scholar, reprimanded western leaders for dancing to the tune of President William Ruto while they are being duped of their economic activities
He specifically, lowered Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi terming him `incompetent’ as he has failed to achieve social mobility status left by his late father Moses Mudavadi in 1989
The umbrella body representing other civil society organisations, endorsed former presidential aspirant Dr Mukhisa Kituyi and Democratic Party Leader Eugene Wamalwa as the true voice for Western Kenya people
“We seek the emergency of the sober leaders of Mulembe Nation like Mukhisa Kituyi, Eugene Wamalwa among others to rise up and be the voice of reason at this trying times.
We were very dismayed by the President to preach development in front of the former Finance Minister [Mudavadi] while all the sugar mills which is the main driver of economic development remained closed following the order by the very President ,” They wondered
Economy of Luhya Nation in Limbo
An estimated 25 per cent of the country’s population depends directly or indirectly on the sugar industry for the livelihoods. That means, 13.5 million livelihoods in Kenya is under threat and 60 per cent which come from western kenya, that translates to 8.1 million people from Western Kenya
They said their youths future is at risk since they are not only being rendered jobless but also the number of school dropouts will increase hence alternatives will be crime and substance abuse
Ogola, criticised Western leaders, who have decided to support an agenda that will kill employment opportunities due to their self-interest of being in government at the expense of the people on whose name they sit on those offices
“We shall organise a nonviolent pilgrimage to all the sugar factories in the western circuit praying that God’s will which is people’s will supersedes Ruto’s will,” They underlinedÂ
They have vowed to prepare a memorandum to the joint chairs of the Bomas talks to give the people of western a chance to be heard in those talks regarding the economic priorities of the Western circuit as well as moving to court to bar Ruto from threatening other civil litigants,” OLU windedÂ
