Mr Odinga has been receiving monthly pensions since he retired as a Prime Minister in 2012 and his counterpart Kalonzo retired as Vice President in 2013.
According to the stipulations made in the Presidential Retirement Benefits Act (2003), a retired president is entitled to receive a lump sum retirement package which is calculated as a sum equal to one year’s salary for each term served as President.
Uhuru Kenyatta served for 10 years meaning he received about Ksh.34.56 million.
In the package, President Kenyatta is entitled to be receiving a total of Ksh.1.15 million in monthly pension.
However, the law requires the entitlements to desist from active politics and retreat back to senior citizenship for them to enjoy retirement benefits
