Laikipia residents have been urged to brace for drought through resource augmentation for emergency responses.
Kenya Redcross , Laikipia county coordinator Bilhah Nguru speaking in Nanyuki where they conducted a Red cross annual walk aimed to raise funds for disaster management, she said that early disaster preparedness was vital aimed at preventing loss of lives or property occasioned by floods or drought.
‘’We are so grateful to hold our annual walk targeting to raise funds towards disaster response operations as well as celebrating World Red cross day. We were privileged to have about 60 schools taking part,” she said.
The coordinator pointed out that Kenya Red cross has been on the front line on responding to disasters including floods and drought.
‘’We are calling upon partners and stakeholders to work with Kenya Redcross towards supporting the communities that have not recovered from flood until now,” Ms Nguru urged.
At the same time,Ms Nguru encouraged residents to brace for dry spells.
World Red Cross day is commemorated on June 8, annual and this year’s theme was ‘’Inclusion and Diversity.’’
