In a powerful and impassioned address during his high-stakes security tour in Embu County, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki made a surprise and bold move—ordering the immediate reinstatement of the recently dismissed Assistant Chief Jackson Kamau.
“I have ordered an immediate reinstatement of Chief Kamau. He must report back to duty by Friday, May 30th,” declared the Deputy President, drawing thunderous applause from the gathered crowd of Embu residents and local leaders.
The directive, seen as a response to mounting pressure and community concern, comes just days after a wave of protests erupted over Kamau’s dismissal, with many in the area viewing the move as unjust and politically motivated. Kindiki’s statement marks a decisive stance in favour of community voices, positioning the government as responsive to the will of the people.
But Kindiki didn’t stop there.
Amid growing anxiety over insecurity in the region—especially from Embu’s business community—the DP unveiled sweeping new security measures, including the deployment of elite police units to crack down on rising criminal activity.

“As of yesterday, the Quick Response Team (QRT) is on the ground in Embu. These officers are specially trained and fully equipped to dismantle the criminal networks that have been terrorizing this town,” Kindiki revealed.
The Deputy President assured the people of Embu that the full force of government was behind efforts to restore safety, stability, and economic confidence in the region.
“We will not allow thugs to disrupt the peace or bully our hard-working business people. The government stands firmly with the people of Embu. Special forces will hunt down and neutralize these rogue gangs that have been harassing our traders and residents,” he said, his calm but firm tone drawing a standing ovation from the crowd.

Kindiki’s visit to Embu follows days of unrest and vocal demands by local traders and residents for better protection and governance.
On Friday, May 28th, ahead of the visit, business leaders in the county had publicly outlined their security concerns, warning that continued attacks would cripple investment and economic activity in the region.
Responding with urgency, Kindiki not only met their concerns head-on but also pledged broader government support for creating a secure and thriving business environment.
