Kithure Kindiki Got 24 votes against Gachagua’s 4

Tharaka Nithi Senator Prof Kithure Kindiki got twenty four votes followed by Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua with four votes for the position of running mate

Other leaders who had been shortlisted for the same position are; National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi and Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru who got each 2 votes.

Followed by Kandara MP Alice wahome alongside Ndindi Nyoro of Kiharu garnering one vote each for the same position

However, hours before unveiling of Kindiki, Mt Kenya leaders from westside who were not in the meeting and residents at Gachagua’s backyard, mounted pressure to DP Ruto and other coalition leaders

This made Gachagua to walk out of Karen meeting before lunch hours as of yesterday, Saturday 14th May

Kindiki presumably waiting DP to intervene there was a disquiet necessitating him also to storm out of the Karen residence at about 5PM, what followed today, Sunday 15th, his name had been dropped

The political pundits from larger Mt Kenya region says their counterparts from westside have always sidelined their friends from eastward of Mt Kenya where Kithure hails from.

Kithure has now threatened to issue official statement tomorrow on Monday 16th May regarding the whole process of Rigathi Gachagua’s nomination as Kenya Kwanza’s running mate

The absence of Kindiki raised eyebrows and opened doors for speculations that he might switch his political allegiance after yesterday’s unfair treatment  

It didn’t end there, Kindiki, conspicuously missed during Deputy President William Ruto’s presser today of unveiling his running mate at Karen 

Taking into his Facebook account Kindiki, thanked those who vouched him during the boardroom meeting and said he is still weighing on the matter

“I am eternally grateful to all those who supported and vouched for me to be nominated the UDA and Kenya Kwanza  Deputy Presidential Candidate in the Elections scheduled for 9th August 2022. 


“Following the decision taken by my Party and Coalition regarding the matter earlier today, I will make my official statement in public tomorrow, 16th May 2022. God bless Kenya and thank you,” said Kindiki in a statement.
