Opposition Member of Parliament has urged Gen-Zs to stop greeting legislators harshly since their message was received by President William Ruto by declining the controversial Finance Bill, 2024 which almost brought the country into a standstill
In a discussion with several journalists, Kilome MP Eng. Thaddeus Nzambia, expressed his happiness applauding youths for helping them (opposition) to reject the Finance Bill, 2024 which the tyranny of numbers had carried their day despite stiff rejection from Azimio and stakeholders
According to the MP who’s serving second term, sought general public to wait until 2027 when they will vote out all 204 legislators who had okayed the already rejected controversial bill by President.
Nzambia noted with concerns how some of MPs have borne the brunt, however, and particularly, pleading with the kamba nation not to set ablaze, vandalize and stop looting people’s properties in the name of demonstrating
The Gen-Zs demonstrations has taught some politicians hard lessons and others reducing their bragadacious while addressing the public even at the floor of the chamber where they dominated both morning and evening sessions
One of the rumoured legislators are the National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungw’ah and Majority Party Chief Whip Silvanus Osoro, whom have been accused by their counterparts of too much talks and dominating the sessions in full glare of the National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula
In our checklist, established that some MPs would insert their biometric cards since morning until evening in an attempt to signal the speaker to be given chance to contribute on the floor, but unfortunately, they end up being assumed, owing to displeasure, they often chose to leave the chambers earlier
Even when this comes to haunt them from their constituents, awfully not knowing what many legislators go through, other issues they are grappling with are financial obligations, while trying to put up descent homes and driving posh cars
For instance, Mumis East MP Peter Salasia shared his June 2024 payslip where he shocked netizens after learning that he takes home paltry Ksh2364 after deductions of car loans, house shares and mortgage as well as saccos.
All these financial woes considering the number of functions they do contribute before the end of a month might have played part on persuading the 204 lawmakers who were allegedly reported to have pocketed Sh2 million from State House for reciprocating their yes vote; before the Bill was rejected after public pressure
