
Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi who was allegedly seized after church service on Sunday 25th May, has been found dumped at Jacaranda Coffee Plantation in Kibichoi area near Ruirua farm in Kiambu County.
His family says his life is now in danger after disturbing videos surfaced showing him in visible distress and writhing in pain.
The legislator’s family has confirmed that he is currently being treated at a Plainview Hospital near Ruiru areas.
Koimburi was reportedly captured by unknown individuals on the afternoon of Sunday, May 25, during a church service in full view of the congregation, who watched in shock as he was bundled into a Subaru vehicle. He later resurfaced at Full Gospel Church in Mugutha, Kiambu County, days after going missing.
His wife reportedly sustained injuries while trying to prevent the seizure, according to Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thang’wa
Thang’wa, who is a close ally to of the UDA legislator who is also a staunch supporter of former impeached deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, confirmed the development and added that the plot to nab the lawmaker has been since last week, escaping police dragnet
“They have been trailing him since last week when he was giving out bursaries,” Senator Thang’wa said. “It was by sheer luck that he escaped on a motorbike,” He told press.
According to Citizen TV, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has denied any involvement in the abduction of the MP, though it confirmed that Koimburi had been sought since Friday in connection with alleged land fraud and misuse of Constituency Development Funds (CDF).
Sunday’s seizure came just hours after Koimburi resurfaced, following earlier reports of his disappearance
According to Thang’wa, while initial reports on Friday suggested Koimburi had been kidnapped, the lawmaker had managed to escape and gone into hiding. His whereabouts remained unknown until he appeared at the Full Gospel Church in Mugutha on Sunday.
