Prof Kithure Kindiki accused Raila Odinga of birthing terror on innocent Kenyans 

He made strong warning to opposition after today’s demonstrations that left several people dead and others seriously injured 

The CS said every Azimio leader who participated in organising the violence will be arrested and charged 

Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Prof Kithure Kindiki has accused opposition leader Raila Odinga of planning the violence witnessed during the anti-government protests since they begun

In a harsh statement, Kindiki accused Raila of having a history of causing violence and destruction of property in every election cycle.

Interior CS vowed to ensure all those who organised the demonstrations are brought into the book.

Kindiki disclosed that the security apparatus ahead been ordered to complete investigations and arrest any person who orchestrated the violence.

“Government has tonight mobilised all the law enforcement agencies of the State and the institutions of our country’s criminal justice system to conclude investigations urgently and proceed to the arrest and prosecution of all those involved in the planning and execution of the crimes committed today, including those who funded or otherwise aided or abetted the offenders,” Kindiki said. 

Kindiki accused the opposition coalition leadership of lying to police that they would hold their rally at Kamukunji Grounds only for them to unleash terror on innocent Kenyans.

“They lied to the Police that they would be holding a peaceful political rally at the Kamukunji grounds, only for them to unleash terror on innocent Kenyans, as a result of which lives have been lost, scores of law enforcement officers and civilians have been grievously injured and unimaginable loss to the Country’s economy have been occasioned,” Kindiki said.

On the other hand, Kenya Private Sector Alliance warned that private sector is losing average of Sh 3 billion a day as a result of ongoing nationwide demonstrations

The demonstrations occasioned subdued business activities across the country 

The amount refers to losses from lost businesses as companies chose to remain closed due to security reasons 

“Kenya has been losing Sh3 billion daily whenever the opposition holds protests countrywide, this, will negatively impact investors. It’s time for the President William Ruto listen to the opposition and allow dialogue to prevail,” KEPSA statement read.

Elsewhere, section of Indian business community in Kenya have warned migrating into other countries including countries where the capital, tax obligations and the laid down system structures for setting up firms and manufacture are bit more minimal than Kenya
