Kenyans have had different reactions on social media some accusing President William Ruto for appointing former Cheran’any member of parliament, Joshua Kutuny as a chairperson of the Kenya Copyright Board(Kecobo).
In a Gazette notice dated October 26, 2023, Kutuny will work as the board’s head for a period of three years.
Sections of Kenyans flooded social media platforms accusing President of tribalism for appointing almost his tribesmen in state and others castigating fears that opposition will end before the end of his tenure
Albert Smart Stated, “Congratulations, sir! When you have your meeting with him, kindly urge him to pledge what he can realistically deliver. Suggest that he takes small, manageable steps instead of biting off more than he can chew. Secondly, emphasize that nepotism doesn’t bode well for Kenya today. Even though I wasn’t a fan of Uhunye, he at least aimed to maintain regional balance. We’re aware of his “Mambo Matatu” slogan, and if he can alleviate our burdens and reduce the cost of living, we won’t be too concerned about how long he serves as president.”
Another user by the name PK Mutuku KE remarked, “ not seal but zeal. Already embarrassing the appointing authority. Meanwhile are u a hustler,”.
The notice read,”In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6(1) (a) of the Copyright Act, 2001, I William Ruto appoint Joshua Kutuny to be the chairperson of the Kenya Copyright Board for a period of three years, with effect from October 27, 2023.”
“All azimio politicians are being bought using state jobs,” Fredy Maina stated
This comes more than a year after Mr. Kutuny lost his Legislator bid to Patrick Simiyu . Kutuny served as Jubilee’s deputy Secretary General before the August 9 general elections.
