Former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party has come out to defend him over claims that he is seeking to cause internal divisions in the Orange Democratic Movement Party.
Jubilee Party Deputy Organising Secretary Pauline Njoroge on Monday said that attacks against Uhuru, who has remained silent over the accusation, are uncalled for and unwarranted which should be dismissed in totality.
ODM Party’s top leadership, led by its chairperson and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga and Minority Leader in the National Assembly Junet Mohamed, have accused Uhuru of plotting to use insiders of the party to cause internal divisions.
“These leaders making these claims should first take responsibility for the internal divisions and leadership wrangles within their own party, rather than seeking external scapegoats. Uhuru Kenyatta is not involved in ODM’s internal affairs,” said Njoroge
Additionally, she added, “What we are witnessing is clear political insecurity over his continued popularity, even in traditional ODM strongholds. Attempts to diminish that popularity through accusations and conspiracy narratives are unconvincing, and Kenyans can see through them, ”.

On Sunday, while speaking in Homa Bay in the presence of President William Ruto, Wanga attacked Uhuru, accusing him of hiring wheeler-dealers within the party to cause chaos and confusion in the outfit that now enjoys a cordial working relationship with the UDA Party under a broad-based arrangement.
We have respect for President Uhuru Kenyatta. However, if you want to destroy the ODM Party by sending wheeler-dealers to us, then we reject your plans. We will not take that matter lightly as we will deal with it perpendicularly,” warned Wanga
The confusion, chaos and apprehension in the party that was once led by the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is so deep that allegations of money being used to influence ownership of the outfit have emerged.
While wading into politics during Ruto’s tour of Migori County recently, National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi revealed that there are top party members who are plotting to “sell” the party to the former president.
