More than one hundred (100) Nairobi City County Fire and Rescue team members are undergoing rigorous training at the Kangundo Road fire station to upskill them.

The training which consists on rescue, fire and disaster management drills, was officially opened by Chief Officer, Disaster and Emergency  Management, Bram Simiyu.

Kangundo road Fire station complex is one of the best equipped fire training centres in the County, he said. We will soon unveil it as a centre of excellence. 

“We offer  fire fighters training from other counties and Countries. In line with Governor Sakaja’s Manifesto and mantra of a city of order, dignity, hope and opportunity for all, we will ensure the training offered at Kangundo road firestation prepares out officers and trains the much needed preparation to deal with the real emergency issues and be able to save lives and  improve the teams capacity to fight disasters.” He added.

The cohort currently undergoing training at Kangundo road is the first of a group of 300 firemen and women  earmarked for training as part of the Department’s strategy to beef up its skilled manpower.

“Our training curriculum is one of the best in the East, Central and Southern part of Africa and continues to attract top firemen.” Said Chief Officer Simiyu
