The Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has told the nation that he has interdicted all police officers who were on duty on the time blogger Albert Ojwang was booked and subsequently died in the police cells
While addressing Journalists on Monday, Kanja veered off disclosing the details of the officers who were manning the station even after telling media that they have all been interdicted including the Officer Commanding Station
Kanja stated that they will conduct thorough investigation to establish the circumstances that led to the losing of Ojwang’s life even after the OCS gave contradictory statement over the death
This has prompted Law Society of Kenya President Faith Odhiambo demand Mr Kanja to reveal the names of claimed interdicted officers lest be seen as playing public relations gimmick
“Why has he not named the particular officers who have been interdicted? What is the need of hiding? Kenyans should know. We want to know who picked Ojwang’, are they part of those who were interdicted and also we want to know the names of those interdicted, “she said
“Without telling Kenyans in plain words who are these individuals are, we will be treated to just PR for purposes of cooling the temperatures, “

The LSK President further condemned how security officers have been handling Kenyans and how that young man met untimely death
“The treatment of Mr Albert Ojwang’ is a betrayal against him and against the people of Kenya. This cannot be wished away as an isolated incident because it is illustrative of deeper systematic weakness within the NPS, ” she added
Meanwhile, Kibra residents staged demonstrations by blocking Ngong Road demanding explanation of the death of blogger Albert Ojwang’
Part of the road remained impassable for the rest of the day with citizens setting ablaze tires and other items demanding justice to be done for the deceased
Members of Parliament led by National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwa and Minority Chief Whip Millie Odhiambo demanded answers over the death of Ojwang’, wanting Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Langat to step aside to allow honest investigation
They claimed the presence of DIG in office being the complainant of the case which had been launched of false publication may interfere with the independent investigations
The late had been accused by DIG of defamation after publishing information of corruption
