President Dr William Ruto has told Ukambani leaders that he has tried to convince former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka but he has been turning down the request
The Head of State reiterated that he reached to Ukambani kingpin Mr Musyoka and sat together requesting him to help reorganize the government but he declined that he would want to remain in opposition
Speaking during the thanksgiving service held at Kitui Central Primary School for AIC Church, Ruto said despite Kalonzo’s view that he would offer alternative government, he respects him so much as his elder brother, and would wish to work with him
Dr Ruto promised Kitui people that he will put modern infrastructure, construct national roads, complete the Kibwezi-Mutomo-Kitui-Mwingi mega road as requested by the local elected leaders for the betterment and uplifting the lives of electorates who should not be subjected into opposition politics
Ruto said that all citizens have equal rights to benefit from the national government projects without any undue discrimination
“I want to thank the Governor Malombe for hosting us and we will construct all projects that you request from the national government, we shall put up water project to end water scarcity and address food insecurity through water fed irrigation schemes,’’ Ruto said
“Mama mboga anang’ang’ana hapa chini analipa ushuru, mbona sisi wakubwa hatutaki kulipa ushuru, so mimi nawaomba tulipe ushuru, the bible says the borrower is a slave to the lender, so sitaki nchi yetu iendelee kuwa mtumwa wa kulipa madeni kwa mataifa ya kigeni badala ya sisi tukusanye ushuru wetu na tujitegemee. We can collect up to more than Kshs 2.5 trillion per year and that means that we can do a lot for development of this nation if we remain true and honest with our actions,” He added
President also thanked the Kitui Central Member of Parliament Makali Mulu that he will oversight the national government as well as the Governor Malombe, cracking jokes that they should not stop him when he wants to bring the development in Ukambani. He ended in laughter
The Wiper Democratic Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has in the recent past started challenging President William Ruto’s administration saying that he is implementing some of sensitive directives in a dictatorial manner instead of seeking approval from the cabinet meeting
On a quick rejoinder, Kalonzo spoke in Homa Bay urging church leaders to desist from being swayed by politicians into mad politics, as he reiterated his yesterday’s calls that the Azimio would unveil their shadow Cabinet Secretaries
