Teachers Service Commission TSC has said that half of Junior Secondary School Teachers are yet to receive their salaries after successfully hired between February and March 2023
The teacher’s recruiting body has confirmed that only 35,550 teachers who were posted to different schools in February and March 2023 had received their salaries in full.
According to TSC Chairperson, Dr Nancy Macharia, is that, the reasons for not paying all cohorts, is because some of the teachers reported a bit late.
“Some of teachers reported their respective institutions date late, leading to a delay in the processing of their salaries. As is a procedure, the recruits are given 30 days within which to report to their various stations, which leads to some commencing their work later than others,”. She stated
Ms Macharia said that,“This sometimes causes delays in the processing of their salaries. So far, the commission has processed over 50 percent of the salaries of the newly employed teachers,” the head of commission added.
The commission further urged all those who have received their salaries, to confirm their receipt of the payment through their respective banks.
Notably, TSC issued an apology for the delays assuring the teachers that they would get their pay by the course of May 2023.
TSC stated,“We apologise for any delays that may have been occasioned by late reporting of teachers to their stations or delayed submission of requisite documents.
“All efforts are being made to effect all salaries in May 2023,”. It cleared.
Teachers were further directed to contact the Director of Human Resource Management and Development in case of any other questions or concerns
