Appearing before the parliamentary ad-hoc committee in the Senate, investigating the Shakahola Massacre on Wednesday, Attorney General Justin Muturi, revealed that government has to rein on rogue preachers before their cult activities spreads across the country
“Ezekiel Odero is a criminal; he has not been paying taxes despite collecting millions of shillings from his mega-church in Mavueni, Kilifi County. Despite meeting all conditions, he has failed to file tax returns in recent years and as the head of the state law office, we have no option but to de register Pastor Ezekiel Odero’s church,’’ Muturi stated.
The AG also revealed that he has ordered the de-registration of Good News International Church under the leadership of Pastor Paul Mackenzie after the church was involved in the Shakahola massacre
Mackenzie is alleged to have told his followers to starve to death in order to meet Jesus
Already, the government through has exhumed 133 bodies in Shakahola Forest, where pastor Mackenzie is believed to have buried his followers
