Yusuf Adan, Chair Independent Gas Dealers Association of Kenya pledges to donate blood for the victims of Embakasi Gas Explosion
The association also pledges to give Ksh 1 million for foodstuffs, blankets and buying utensils for the victims
They affirmed their commitments on complying with the strict rules and regulations set by the EPRA on gas business
Independent Gas Dealers Association of Kenya has contributed Ksh 400,000 towards over 200 victims of Embakasi Gas Explosion that occurred on Friday 2nd February, 2024 leaving three dead and scores injuredÂ
In a media briefing at Serena Hotel in Nairobi, the Chairman of the Association Yusuf Adan, said they are deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident that claimed lives of Kenyans, while sending their heartfelt condolences to the families that losed their loved ones
“We are handing over this amount to Red Cross that is coordinating the multi agency efforts to help those affected. Our heartfelt condolences goes to fellow kenyans who have lost their loved ones as we wish them quick recovery.
For the injured ones and those who are getting medical attention across health facilities in Nairobi City County, we say sorry,” Adan remarked
Additionally, the association has also pledged to donate another Sh1M to Red Cross kitty that will go to buying foodstuffs, blankets, utensils of the Embakasi victims
They stated that their wellbeing of their employees, contractors and members of the public is of paramount in their pursuit of gas industry in the country

Adan also expressed their support to government agencies especially energy, petroleum and regulatory authority for working around the clock to 3ensure that there’s full compliance with the set regulatory and safety standards without a failure
“We have fully complied with these safety standards and requirements by state agencies, and have established a monitoring mechanism to ensure compliance
In a solidarity endeavour, the association which is majorly controlled by Muslims, promised to donate blood to various injured individuals who are admitted in different hospitals
While praying and wishing the victims quick recovery, Red Cross’s coordinator John Mbalu unconfirmed having received the cheque of Sh400,000, maintaining that will go to 200 households affected during the Friday explosion
In their effortless cordination to ensure equitable sharing of the aid, Mbali disclosed launching cash transfers programme to destitute before they come to terms of the devastating losses of their properties
