Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapiti of Anglican Church of Kenya today made former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka walk out of the church after they were denied chance to speak at St Stephen’s ACK Church, Jogoo, Nairobi
Speaking to the congregants during the consecration and enthronement of Venerable Canon Jonathan Kabiru Kariuki who will serve as 3rd Bishop of ACK Nairobi Diocese, Sapiti banned Gachagua, Kalonzo and any other politician from addressing inside the church
“And if you want to gift Bishop any gifts there’s a pay bill there, don’t announce how much you have given. Any politician who wants to speak can do outside the sanctuary once the services are over, not here, it’s not our doctrine,” Sapiti ordered
Asked by Journalists after the service why banned prominent politicians particularly Gachagua, Kalonzo and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja from addressing faithfuls, Sapiti said, there has been tribal inclinations and political attacks hurled by politicians which shouldn’t be condoned in the church
“We want to separate politics from the church, many politicians have been issuing hatred and inciting public against fellow politicians and this should not be allowed in church. Such incitement are an abuse of the body of Christ.
As Anglican, we are not going to allow this even in all our branches in central will follow the suit,” Sapiti maintained
The move made Rigathi Gachagua and Kalonzo Musyoka walk away quietly, avoiding to speak to the media, even though they were directed by Most Bishop to address outside the sanctuary
From the looks, Gachagua and Kalonzo were not happy by such directives, banning them to address such large crowd that had squeezed even at all the tents elected outside the church compound
Sapiti, however, directed all politicians not to announce the amount of money donated to Right Reverend Jonathan Kabiru after being installed to take over from Nairobi region ACK’s Diocese
About the IEBC, the Archbishop urged the selection panel to come up with the list of credible men and women who will make sure upcoming elections are fair, credible and verifiable in order to safeguard the country from post election violence
He heeded to opposition and government to worry about addressing the hailing issues like Social Health Authority and new university funding model which is ineffective rather than abusing each other without finding the solutions to most of issues affecting Kenyans
In his turn, the crowned Bishop Jonathan Kabiru, assured faithfuls that he will uphold the doctrine of the Anglican Church across the globe and will make sure that they champion to the true vessel of the body of the christ while helping them social economically wise
“I will faithfully serve the ACK church of Nairobi and it’s steering committee and honour all instructions and observe episcopal jurisdictions of the Anglican Church of Kenya,” he swore to uphold the doctrine
He will resign and relinquish off his duties from ACK in 2042 afyter serving for the next seventeen years undisrupted unless natural attrition before he allows his successor take over
