HOW TO UPSET THE APPLE CART IN PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE AND LEAVE NO ROOM FOR MEDIOCRITY

People who take average levels of action are more often than not the most common in our world today.

These are the type that spends their life taking just enough action and ends up appearing, doing and becoming average. They create normal lives and never invest more than what is comfortable to transform their lives from normal to extraordinary.

To move from a parasite to an uncommon achiever, your effort must be deliberately applied towards managing your emotions, dealing with criticism, attaining excellence in time management, overseeing your stress levels and maturing in a myriad of other areas that constitute life.

It takes a dangerous amount of courage to be extraordinary. Being normal, predictable and regular is easy- anyone can do that at any time. It takes a decision to walk out of the regular, abandon the mundane and forsake the mediocre.

It takes much more than exposure, education and definitely much more than information-it takes audacity! To dare leave normalcy and take the road less traveled to the land of the exceptional, takes a different school of thought and a daring defiance to the status quo.

There is a cost to becoming outstanding, but that cost is payable by anyone who desires excellence.

No one was born mediocre; it is the conditioning of our environments and the subtle influence of our associations that give us the reassuring comfort to settle in the bad, the ugly and the lukewarm. But for us to reign over mediocrity, decisions of discontent must push us until normal begins to appear, feel and sound invasively offensive. Greatness isn’t by luck. Great people were once little people that decided to grow.

It is not what happens to us that matters: it rains on the poor and on the rich alike, and night and morning comes to all alike-what matters is the decisions that we make. Moving from the average to the unknown world of excellence is a superior decision that only uncommon people are able to make. But again, to be common or uncommon is a matter of choice.

Moving from normal to excellence requires a healthy understanding that to give the best of our gifts is to become the best versions of ourselves that we can be.

Outside of our true essence which is locked in our gifts, we must not pursue illusions, mirages, shifting shadows and deceitful facades to the risk of being despondent, ineffective and shallow.

When we forsake others and engage our talents, gifts and abilities, we not only are we rewarded by life but we obtain rich earthly rewards for doing what we would have done for free, anyway. To get to excellence is costly, but to reach and finally touch that place is exponentially rewarding. And the greater the demand, the more expensive a man of excellence becomes.

One thing separates an excellent man with the mediocre one- they both have gifts and talents. However, one has settled in the wilderness but the other has traversed the deserts of life to reach the zenith or the ultimate.

You can begin the journey out of mediocrity by questioning your every comfort zone. Quality questions and precision in questioning is the gateway to excellence.

” When you have had a taste of excellence, you cannot desire to totter to a brink of collapse towards mediocrity ” or by a hindsight, degenerate to what the late Prof. Frederick Reed Dickerson, an international expert in legislative drafting, describes as ‘pious incantations’ .
