President of Uganda, contracted positive for COVID-19 on June 7, 2023 and has since provided more regular information on his state of wellness. He said that he is improving while getting top-notch care at home.
Kampala-Uganda-Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has said that his health is improving days after testing positive for Covid-19.
In a statement released on Sunday, June 11, Museveni, who has ruled Uganda since 1986, said he had recovered from a dull headache and mild throbbing experienced as a result of contracting the virus.
“It is now day five of my coronavirus status. Last night, I slept very well for ten hours,” he said.
On Sunday 11th June, Museveni said on social his media that although his symptoms are light as opposed to earlier in the week, he has thought about starting to exercise push-ups. However, he is cautious not to worsen the condition.
He said that the forced seclusion of his home had helped him familiarize himself with mountains of paperwork.
“The coronavirus is helping me catch up on my papers by domesticating me. Today’s symptoms are less severe than yesterday’s. Nighttime mild throbbing (enkuratima) in the ruhoorahoore region of the head.
“Children have a gap in this area of the skull.” He said on Twitter that his throat also had a small amount of roughness.
“If not, I could even be tempted to do my push-ups, but common sense tells me not to mess with the body’s biochemistry, where the virus is waging war on the body with new strains
The three-decade-long ruler continued by saying that he is taking all necessary precautions to restore complete immunity and that he fears becoming sick because he “detest[s] missing the struggle for Africa’s freedom.”
He wrote, “Our grand fathers’ generation, the ANC of South Africa founders of 1912, George Padamore, W.B. Dubois, Kabalega, etc.; our fathers’ generation, Nkurumah, Kenyatta, Nyerere, Mandela, etc.; our own generation, Samora Machel, Ngaraang, etc., are generations to come of the African anti-colonial resistance for Africa to survive and thrive
Consequently, in the struggle against imperialism and all of Africa’s foes, our health is a weapon. When you are unwell, you can’t defend yourself as effectively as when you are healthy.”
He said that his wife, Janet, is immune to the virus and that he is not bedridden but rather housebound.
“Maama Janet was tested on the seventh evening, and all the tests (rapid, PCR, etc.) came back negative. We give God praise for it. As a result, we have been using various areas of the property ever since,” he stated.
President Museveni praised Ugandans for extending well wishes for a speedy recovery.
Museveni, the president of Uganda, said that despite some difficulties, he was able to sleep and is optimistic despite his continued illness. He is now sequestered at Nakasero.
Only in the annals of history did Africa achieve her freedom; in reality, we are governed and kept captive.
People online were not happy with the Museveni condition, citing it as somehow coincidental with what Tanzania’s President Pombe Magufuli went through.
Because those leaders refused to serve as the colonisers’ puppets, it all began with Magufuli, and it seems like they may now be after Museveni
