The President emeritus for the National Nurses’ Association of Kenya Alfred Obengo has backed Devolution Permanent Secretary Teresia Mbaika’s congratulatory message to 2023 Nurses and Midwives Week
In a statement to newsroom on Frifay 12th May, Obengo noted that nurses and midwives’ selfless contribution to the growth of the global community as the critical producers of the human capital is of great paramount to the society
“Undoubtedly, time has come to amplify the fact our profession is more important than any of us. We must therefore hold and manage in the trust on behalf of the future generation. We must equally strive to leave behind a profession that is beyond self-pity,’’ Part of the message read.
He further implored parents and guardians to nurture their children to have great minds that expect more in life and not less, terming the nurses and midwifery specialization in their various fields of practice as the golden egg
“ These must be the ingredients that will mound a profession that is not only still marketable and respected, but also relevant in the labour market,’’ He emphasized
On her side, Mbaika thanked nurses for dedicating their lives into helping others as they celebrate them
