Cabinet Secretary for EAC, ASALs, and Regional Development Hon. Penina Malonza today met representatives of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers who were led by the association’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Anthony Mwangi.
The meeting was also attended by the Principal Secretary, East African Community Mr Abdi Dubat, they deliberated cross cutting issues pertaining to trade and manufacturing in Kenya in the context of the East African Community.
They delved on the pillars of the association’s Manufacturing Priority Agenda for 2024 and how Kenyan manufacturing sector could leverage on the East African Community for greater social economic progress for herself and other member states.
Topics included enhancing trade relations within the EAC, reducing tariff barriers and creating a conducive environment for manufacturing growth in East African Community
The deliberations underscored importance of collaborative approach to regional development and fostering economic integration
The association outlined key strategies and goals aimed at bolstering manufacturing sector in Kenya
Participants examined how these priorities align with the broader objectives of the EAC, identifying areas where Kenyan manufacturers could benefit from increased regional cooperation
