Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry CS Rebecca Miano launches fourth Medium Term Plan for the year 2023-2027

Miano highlighted the importance of strengthening healthcare infrastructure to combat emergencies

She also noted revitalizing public-private partnership framework to attract more investors and incentives

Government has announced of re-modelling and digitizing the National Government Affirmative Action Fund[NGAAF], Youth Enterprise Development Fund, Uwezo Fund as well as Women Enterprise Fund to enhance financing for enterprises owned and run by youth, women and people living with disabilities 

Speaking during the launch of Fourth Medium Term Plan on 21st June, 2024 at Laikipia County, Investments, Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano stated that government is going to revamp the cash transfer programmes to cushion the vulnerable in society 

“We are prioritizing the enhancement of the women enterprise fund progressively from Ksh 4.5 billion to Ksh 13.5 billion in the next three years,” Part of the statement read by CS Miano on behalf of the President William Ruto underscored 

Ms Miano noted that Social Health Insurance Scheme id being expanded,  focusing on Afya Bora Mashinani- a model which is targeting 10.8 million households, with a view of digitizing health services and improving health infrastructure. Over 20,000 health workers will be recruited to support the health commodities supply chain.

“Our strategies for primary healthcare will fortify Kenya’s health systems to effectively respond to any emergencies, like Covid-19 which caught us unprepared,” Ms Miano highlighted the importance of strengthening healthcare infrastructure across the country 

Other notable infrastructure projects to be implemented during the MTP IV period include the construction of one million affordable housing units; and the laying of 4600 KM of high voltage transmission lines 37 sub stations to connect an additional 2.3 million kenyans and 30,000 public institutions to the national grid

Additionally, an extra 100,000 km of fibre- optic cable will be laid as part of the National Optic Fibre Backbone Infrastructure Programme 

“To diversify sources of financingn the government will strengthen collaboration with the private sector and other non-state actors. We are committed to revitalizing public-private partnership framework to attract more investors and support the implementation of government priorities in the MTP IV,” she added 

Not forgetting the contributions made by athletes, Kenya Kwanza Administration has earmarked the plans to implement Talanta-Hela- an initiative for monetizing talents and Pesa Mfukoni 

“We will also expand sports and arts infrastructure and promote sports tourism by supporting international sporting events,” she remarked
