Section of Clergymen drawn from Evangelical Alliance of Kenya calls President William Ruto to use the taskforce’s report that incorporated public participation
They rejected Senator Danson Mugatana’s Religious Bill, 2024 in it’s entirety for lacking transparency and recommending punitive penalties over those found culpable
General Overseer, of the Deliverance Churches Council of Kenya [DCC] Bishop Mark Kariuki snubbed Journalists inquisitive questions about what the churches will do should the Government they overwhelmingly campaigned for bites them through punitive laws
While expressing their anger and dissatisfaction under the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya, Kariuki ignored two questions from journalists and instead maintained that pastors should not be questioned about the matter or blamed at all since the Government in place was voted by all Kenyans

“It is not about whom we voted, the President is for all of us including atheists. However, we will not disclose our weapon as of now, we will use it when the right time comes because we are also Kenyans and governed by the system of laws,” Kariuki hinted of the possibility of going to court to stop any controversial law against the churches
In a session which was well attended on 25th September at CITAM, Valley Road, the umbrella body led by their Secretary General and Kenya Assemblies of God Bishop Philip Kitoto, they rejected in totality the Religious Bill, 2024 which was tabled on the floor of the Senate by Tana River Senator Danson Mugatana

They, termed the bill as draconian and being sneaked in to parliament from some quarters because it contravenes principles of fundamental procedures such as denying the stakeholders an opportunity to participate in it’s formulation
“The bill which proposes punitive penalties and exorbitant levies by the both National and County Governments stands to be used by the rogue police officers to extort and solicit money from religious leaders. They may also use it to inflict fear, torture and intimidate God’s servants,” Rev. Kefa Nyadega, General Secretary of EAK read the joint statement
The men in clothes maintained that they prefer internal dispute resolution mechanisms which was arrived at by the Presidential taskforce which was chaired by former Mbeere South MP Rev. Mutava Musyimi to formulate and recommend tougher policies that will govern the conduct of churches after the Shakahola massacre
“We strongly support the Presidential taskforce’s report because before it’s formulation, we were actively involved and the team took in to consideration of our views,” They added
