Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has become a darling for women in Kenya, some of them expressing their interest to be married by him even if is the second or third wife
The recent on the trend is a woman identified as Lydia Ronald who is seeking matrimonial status with the youngest legislator in the thirteenth parliament
Salasya, become talk of the town, when he started campaigning without a permanent house in his homestead, where he was assisted by Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa to put up a permanent structure.
He trounced the then incumbent’s Benjamin Washiali’s candidate Dr Benson Mapwoni who came third with paltry 5,118 votes
In the race there was another familiar name; David Wamatsi of ANC under UDA, who in 2013 ran for Deputy Governor Position for the Kakamega county gubernatorial alongside Soita Shitanda
Both seasoned politician never knew the surprise was awaiting them when they were floored by little known and less wealthy 32-year-old younger man who garnered 12,140 votes to win the Mumias East race
Mr Wamatsi of ANC came second with 9,043 votes and Mr Washiali’s favourite candidate, Dr Mapwoni only managed 5,118 votes.
“I can’t believe that I am now headed to Nairobi to represent the people of Mumias East as their next Member of Parliament. My opponents called me names and claimed I was a mad man because I was campaigning on foot for lack of a vehicle,” said Mr Salasya.
